I am the father of three children. Early on, I realized that our public education system places very little emphasis on individualized support for children and adolescents. I firmly believe that learning together over an extended period and tailoring education to each child's unique needs do not have to be contradictory. I have come to understand that the principles of Montessori education are ideally suited to harmonizing individuality and community spirit. The guiding principle, “Help me do it myself!”, serves as a foundation for fostering responsibility and independence.
Together with dedicated colleagues, I founded the Montessori Stiftung Berlin in 2009. In the following years, I served as the chair of the board of trustees, guiding the young organization and supporting its growth to the best of my ability. Today, the foundation brings together six schools and several daycare centers under its roof, all operating according to the principles of Montessori education.
